The Summer Hikaru Died To End This Year

On May 26, 2026, it was announced by the author Mokumokuren that The Summer That Hikaru Died is now on its “Final Stage”

Previously on November 5, 2024, the author has stated on Twitter that he will keep going until Volume 10, meaning this announcement adds up with this promise to reach up to 10 volumes.

Volume 9 is set for release on June 4, 2026, which will cover Chapter 42 to Chapter 45.

This means the tenth and final volume will have 4 or 5 more chapters, ensuring the series reaches a total of 50 chapters.

Currently, we are at the third part of Chapter 46, which was released on April 28, 2026, with no update in sight.

With chapter part updates coming biweekly or a full month per chapter, it is possible the series will end between September to November 2026.

By December 26, 2025, the series had 4.5 million copies in circulation.

About The Summer Hikaru Died

The Summer Hikaru Died is written and illustrated by Mokumokuren for Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up website in August 31, 2021.

Adapted by Cygames Pictures (Cypic, the studio behind the Kagurabachi adaptation), the anime had 12 episodes from July 6 to September 28, 2025, adapting the first 26 chapters of the series.

Season 2 has been announced.

It is possible Season 2 will finish the rest of the series by the time Volume 10’s contents arrive by the end of the year.
