Sentenced To Be a Hero To Get Season 2
Amidst its stunning popularity, Sentenced to be a Hero will be getting a second season.
On March 6, 2026, it was announced that Sentenced to be a Hero will be receiving a Season 2 in the near future.
Studio Kai will still be the studio in charge.
Sentenced to be a Hero has proven to be quite popular due to its unique premise and high quality animation in an already stacked Winter 2026 season that has Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Part 1 and Hell’s Paradise Season 2, as well as Fire Force’s finale and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2.
Sentenced to be a Hero is a light novel series written by Rocket Shōkai and illustrated by Mephisto that began publication on Kakuyomu in October 28, 2020, then as a light novel series in ASCII Media Works starting on September 17, 2021 with 8 volumes as of present.
The same light novel publisher would go to adapt the series as a manga in the monthly Dengeki Comic Regulus on March 25, 2022, with Natsumi Inoue as illustrator.
The anime adaptation was first announced at the Dengeki Bunko 30th anniversary event on July 16, 2023, with the series being directed by Hiroyuki Takashima, Yoshitake Nakakōji serving as assistant director, Kenta Ihara handling series composition, Takeshi Noda on character design, and Shunsuke Takizawa composing the music.
This series is set in a medieval fantasy world where humans struggle to survive against demons called Faeries.
To fight them, the government enlists Heroes, who are criminals punished with immortality as each time they die, they are resurrected to keep on fighting, and Goddesses, divine weapons of war.
The story follows Xylo Forbartz, a former knight commander who killed the goddess he was contracted with after she was corrupted by demonic blight, and so has become a Hero to pay for his crimes but in reality, this was done to suppress the truth: that even the Goddesses can be corrupted.
