In a recent press release, the HIDIVE platform revealed that the anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokari’s manga Oshi No Ko became its best premiere in history.
The report states that the series catapulted to first place in total plays and in the number of new subscribers captured during the first seven days.
These results are not only for spring 2023 but for the platform’s entire history. John Ledford, president of HIDIVE, stated,” Oshi no Ko is absolutely elated with the fan response during its first week”.
He continued, “Oshi no Ko is a truly unique anime series, and its success to date really illustrates how much the story and characters have resonated with fans. There is still so much more to see.”
The series premiered last week on April 12 and is confirmed to run for eleven episodes. HIDIVE will handle distribution in the West.
Aka Akasaka is the author of Oshi No Ko, while Mengo Yokari is the illustrator. The manga started its serialization in Sheuisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in April 2020. It is currently still in serialization and has 10 volumes available.
Shuesha’s Manga Plus is releasing the manga digitally in English.
Yen Press has licensed the manga for English distribution and describes the manga,
