On February 29, 2024, a teaser was released to hint that One Punch Man was currently in production under J.C. Staff’s supervision but without a confirmation date.
J.C. Staff animated One Punch Man Season 2, which released on April 10, 2019, having taken over from Studio Madhouse (Death Note, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) that have produced One Punch Man Season 1 on October 5, 2015.
Although the source clarified that this is only a rumor (likely for the sake of spreading hype around the anime), the artist of One Punch Man, Yusuke Murata, would retweet the post.
This gave the implication that the information has some truth to it.
Yusuke Murata is the artist that adapted ONE’s ongoing 2009 webcomic into a manga for Shueisha’s Tonari Young Jump beginning June 14, 2012.
The manga’s artistry and high level of detail has since garnered much acclaim.
As of July 2024, One Punch Man has 31 volumes with a total of 161 chapters.
However, the manga currently has 206 chapters, the remaining 45 published online through the Tonari Young Jump website.
The anime stopped at Chapter 85 within the Monster Association Arc.
