The translation of the above promotional material goes as follows:

ONE PIECE novel ZORO JOSHŌ SASAKAZE “Before meeting Luffy – Episodes from the time when I was called “Ari” are revealed.”

The material also hints at revealing a secret about Zoro’s bloodline! It was revealed in the main series that Zoro was a descendant of the Shimotsuki clan so it’ll be interesting to see how his life was back in the day and what really really led to him dreaming about becoming the best swordsman.

The Zoro Novel will be written by Jun Esaka, who penned the One Piece novel HEROINES series and One Piece novel ODYSSEY. Nakamaru (novel ODYSSEY) will be illustrating the Novel.

The first edition of this novel will be called “Prologue: Sasakaze.” Sasakaze refers to bamboo blades that are often served along with onigiri, which is a reference to Zoro’s signature technique.

Will the Zoro novel be canon? Well, novels like the Ace one are “official” novels but not written by Oda. And they don’t really interfere with the main story as told in the manga so they’re considered “soft canon.”

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that Eiichiro Oda will intensively supervise the novel and verify most of the information presented.
