On Friday, popular Japanese Kabuki actor Ichikawa Ennosuke was indicted for allegedly assisting his parents in taking their own lives.

It is believed that the incident was a family suicide pact.

Ennosuke or Takahiko Kinoshi, 47, is suspected of providing his mother Nobuko, 75, and his father Hiryouki, 76, an excessive amount of sleeping drugs on May 17.

On May 18, Ennosuke was found collapsed alongside his parents at their home in Tokyo.

This incident took place on the day when a Japanese magazine published a report, accusing him of sexually abusing and bullying others in the theater world.

Ennosuke later said, “A weekly magazine report prompted us to hold a family meeting, and we decided to say goodbye,” to the police.

The three were originally discovered by Ennosuke’s manager. At the time, Ennosuke was awake but in a haze and was taken to the hospital.

On June 27, he was arrested for his involvement in his mother’s death after recovering. On July 18, a new warrant was made to arrest him over the case of the death of his father.

Ennosuke’s father, also known as Ichikawa Danshiro was a famous Kabuki actor as well.

Ennosuke started his career in the 80s and was a part of the One Piece “Super Kabuki”, a new form of theater where traditional Kabuki and other effects and music are mixed.

The One Piece Kabuki play was successful, and he was to work in the upcoming Demon Slayer Kabuki play, scheduled to come out next year.
