One Piece Film Red Becomes The 7th Highest Grossing Film In Japan!

The movie became the eighth movie in Japan to ever cross 20 billion yen.

One Piece Film Red continues its journey at the Japanese box office.

The movie has passed Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke and has now become the seventh highest grossing film in the Japanese box office.

As of November 12, One Piece Film Red has earned 20.27 billion yen (144.86 million USD) at Japanese theaters.

It also became the eighth film in Japan to ever cross 20 billion yen on October 30.

The only other anime films above One Piece Film Red’s earnings are:

  • Your Name at fifth place with 25.17 billion yen.
  • Spirited Away at second place with 31.68 billion yen.
  • Demon Slayer at first place with 40.43 billion yen.

Originally released on August 6, 2022, the movie is currently holding its encore screenings in Japan, which is continuously topping the box office charts.

In just two weeks of its re-release, the movie has made 300 million yen in revenue, with 230,000 tickets sold.

Combined with the earnings during the original run, it makes over 14.5 million tickets sold.

The original ran from August 6, 2022, to January 29, 2023, becoming the fifth highest grossing film and the 8th highest grossing in Japan of all time.
