One Piece Can Actually Win An Emmy Or An Oscar Someday, Says Eiichiro Oda

OPLA topped the Netflix charts for three weeks in a row, and it’s Oda’s primary reason for One Piece to bag at least one of these big awards.

One Piece

Another Jump Festa, another comment by One Piece author Eiichiro Oda talking about the future of One Piece. But this time, he didn’t say something “misleading” that the manga would go on for another 31245235 years.

Rather, he talked about the success of the One Piece live-action series and wondered whether the franchise could get an Emmy or an Oscar!

On Dec 17, 2023 at Jump Festa 2024, Oda shared his thoughts on what’s in store for One Piece in 2024 and the first thing that came to his mind was dreaming about winning an Academy Award! Classic Goda!

He feels it can really happen, thanks to the people who worked on the live-action series, such as Iñaki (Luffy) and Jacob (Usopp) and is banking on them and the other cast members to become big Hollywood stars in the future.

OPLA topped the Netflix charts for three weeks in a row during the period of its release, and it is the primary reason for Oda’s dream for One Piece to bag atleast one of those huge awards.

If Luffy can achieve his dream of becoming the Pirate King, then so can the series’ lord and savior GODA!

Here’s Eiichiro Oda’s exact words regarding the subject matter:

“I was giving it my all with the live-action adaptation. I even went to Los Angeles. Despite how busy I am, I nervously witnessed its release! It even reached the top of Netflix for three weeks in a row; it was a big hit!! Incredible!! This success was a result of more struggles and battles than you could imagine, so it was a massive relief for me as well.

The fact that a Japanese manga could win an “Emmy” or an “Academy Award” someday! That’d be a dream for me.

I feel like that can become reality thanks to the production team from all over the world and everyone in the cast, including Iñaki-kun and Jacob-kun who showed up at Jump Festa today and who all love One Piece so much. So, hoping that these five can become Hollywood stars, let’s do our best for season 2!!”
