The forthcoming anime series will commence with the introduction of the Orokamonogatari, accompanied by the release of a teaser trailer for the 1st part.

The first key visual was released in Jan. The 2 anime series is set to release sometime in 2024.

For those who don’t know what Off season and Monster season means, Off Season is a collection of prequel side arcs throughout the timeline, some in the past, some during Araragi’s last year of high school like the rest of the series, some later than Hana. Most of these arcs focus on other characters than Araragi, which is probably why it’s called Off Season.

Whereas Monster Season seems to be a full new storyline for Araragi, set during his college years.

Off Season, the straight continuation of the Final Season, pledges to carry on the narrative from its previous conclusion. On the other hand, Monster Season represents a daring and innovative addition to the Monogatari universe.

The revealed staff members include:

  • Original Story: Nisioisin
  • Character Planning:VOFAN
  • General Director: Akiyuki Shinbo
  • Director: Midori Yoshizawa
  • Series Composition: Tomiyako Azuma, Akiyuki Shinbo
  • Character Design, Chief Animation Director: Akio Watanabe
  • Animation Production: Shaft

About the Monogatari series:

Monogatari is a Japanese light novel series written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Vofan with 26 volumes written so far.

Shaft has animated the Monogatari series several times since 2009. The first season of the anime adaptation consists of 30 episodes, which were broadcast in Japan between July 2009 and December 2012. The second season consists of 28 episodes broadcast between July and December 2013, and the third and final season consists of 42 episodes broadcast between December 2014 and June 2019.

A prequel anime film trilogy, Kizumonogatari, was released in 2016 and 2017. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Oh! great and titled Bakemonogatari, began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2018, and ended in March 2023.

Kodansha describes Bakemonogatari Part 1 as follows:

There’s a girl at their school who is always ill. She routinely arrives late, leaves early, or doesn’t show up at all, and skips gym as a matter of course. She’s pretty, and the boys take to whispering that ’s a cloistered princess. As the self-described worst loser in her class soon finds out, they just don’t know what a monster she is.

So begins a tale of mysterious maladies that are supernatural in origin yet deeply revealing of the human psyche, a set of case files as given to unexpected feeling as it is to irreverent humor.
