Kingdom Returns with Season 6 and its Longest Arc to Date
Kingdom’s longest arc is about to be animated in Season 6. Will the full season capture the entire lengthy story?
On April 17, 2025, Kingdom has announced the release of Season 6 that is set for October 2025.
Kingdom Season 5 ended with Episode 142: “Cai Ze’s Honor”, which reached up to Chapter 489 and aired from January 13 to March 30, 2024 for 13 episodes.
This was part of the Bureaucrat’s Job Arc, which will continue into Season 6.
As of writing, Kingdom has 75 volumes and 835 chapters, meaning the anime has more than halfway to cover.
Two arcs will be animated for the season: the remainder of the rather brief Bureaucrats Job Arc (Chapters 486 to 495), lasting from Chapters 490-495 and the longest arc in the entire Kingdom manga, the Western Zhao Invasion Arc, released from November 10, 2016 to June 4, 2020 (3 years and 7 months) ,covering Chapters 496 to 662 for a whopping total of 147 chapters, surpassing the 100-chapters long Coalition Invasion Arc (257Â to 356), released from June 23, 2011 to September 5, 2013 (2 years and 3 months), by 47 chapters.
To note, the Kingdom anime adapted the Coalition Invasion Arc within 28 episodes (the last 3 episodes of Season 2 and 25 of Season 3’s 26 episodes).
This could mean that Season 6 will either be 13 episodes long like the previous season, split-cour for 26 episodes like Seasons 3 and 4, or will be unable to fully adapt the arc within one season.
The Western Zhao Invasion Arc is one of the longest arcs in all of manga, being surpassed by One Piece’s Wano Country Arc (149 chapters), Bleach’s Thousand Year Blood War (206 chapters), and Naruto’s Fourth Great Ninja War (216 chapters, divided into multiple sub-arcs), among others.

Kingdom is a historical fiction manga written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara for Shueisha’s seinen magazine, Weekly Young Jump.
Being the magazine’s longest-lasting ongoing series, Kingdom began its journey in January 26, 2006 and managed to reach 75 tankobon volumes.
Although the manga will receive a proper English translation starting in November 11, 2025, the Kingdom managa managed to accumulate over 110 million copies in circulation, making it the 15th best-selling manga of all time as of December 2024.
Kingdom is a fictionalized retelling of the Qin state’s conquest of China during the Warring States period through the lens of Shin and other war orphans who have become generals of Ei Sei, the monarch of Qin and future first Emperor of China.
