MAPPA’s latest Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has captivated the hearts of fans, and thus the studio has received high praise for it.

However, the ground reality for animators doesn’t seem as bright as their work, according to the recent social media activities of the studio’s animators.

In a deleted tweet by animator JMullio02, which revealed the reality in which the animators are working,

Silencing the staff from talking about how atrocious the work conditions are is comically evil. I don’t care at this point because, yes, the schedule is beyond terrible.

The fact that work gets done at all with any level of competency is incredible.

I will not compromise my health for work that won’t even cover all of my rent, let alone any other expenses. My main job and my overall well-being mean more to me than the fear of being blacklisted.”

The situation where being blacklisted is better than working shows the frustration these animators have.

It seems to have gone to the level where animators are willing to break their NDAs to speak out!

Animator @wuakb tweeted,

“I have nothing to lose, so if you’re going to sue me for complaining, I’ll take it! ! ! !”.

Another animator with a Twitter handle, @vflmsppe, went as far as advising against joining the studio if they wanted to do their best.

He tweeted,

Where I am now, it’s basically a mess, and I’m no good, so people who want to do their best shouldn’t get involved.

If you want to do something random and get some money, this might be a good place.

Although it’s a bit of a mess, there are plenty of opportunities and notable works, so it might be good for newcomers to sell their names.

But I think it’s better for people who want to do their best not to get involved.”

One more animator with the Twitter handle @NobiliRoccia spoke out saying,

“Really terrible situation right now…I wish schedules could be more feasible human for the staff.”

The thing to note is that none of these animators have directly mentioned MAPPA, mostly due to NDAs they’ve signed with the studio.

However, their tweets before all of these show that they are working on the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.

The issue has not gone unnoticed among the fans, with one of the tweets crossing over 3.2 million views.

Studio MAPPA is known for taking on multiple projects at once, in contrast to other major players like J.C. Staff and Madhouse, which usually work on two to three projects at once.

MAPPA is currently working on Hell’s Paradise, Chainsaw Man, Attack On Titan, Vinland Saga, and Jujutsu Kaisen.

It is also rumored that the studio will now also be handling season 3 of One Punch Man.
