Haikyu!! Movie and Anime Special Set For 2027
2027 will be a massive year for Haikyu!! fans as a new movie and anime special will come 3 years after the Dumpster Battle film.
On December 21, 2025, it was announced that “Haikyu!!: VS The Little Giant”, the sequel to “Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle” (2024) and the anime special, “”Haikyu!!: The Place Where Monsters Go”, will both be released on 2027.
The sequel movie and the anime special were both previously announced last March.
The movie will cover the Karasuno VS Kamomedai match as the title is taken from the title of both Chapter 343 and Volume 39: “Little Giants”.
This means that the second movie will adapt a total of 34 chapters, from Chapter 327: “The Volleyball Bug” to the last chapter, Chapter 369: “Food Becomes Muscle” for a total of 32 chapters, nearing the same length as the first movie that had a runtime of 1 hour, 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, the short anime is set to adapt the “Fukurodani VS Mujinazaka” match, from Chapter 328: “The Game You Can’t Afford to Lose” to Chapter 337: “Next” for a total of 10 chapters.
Haikyu!! fans are still getting more good news
Sudate Hinagarasu, a new Haikyu!! Spin-Off by Retsu and the original author Haruichi Furudate, will launch on January 5, 2026 in Saikyo Jump.
The work will be based on the spin-off with the same name previously published in Haikyu!! Magazine 2025 last August.
Most of all, Haikyu!! has recently reached the 75 million total sales milestone.

Haikyu!! is the sports manga that was written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 20, 2012 to July 20, 2020, reaching 45 volumes and 402 chapters.
Haikyu!! would be adapted by Production I.G. (Kaiju No. 8, Psycho-Pass, Heavenly Delusion) from April 6, 2014 to December 19, 2020 with four seasons and 85 episodes total, along with 5 OVAs and a movie.
