Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka’s Grand Blue manga is going to be on hiatus, due to the author’s poor health.

The announcement was made on Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine’s March 2023 issue.

While the announcement did not elaborate on the author’s specific condition, it stated that the creator is suddenly suffering from an illness.

As of right now, no return date has been announced for the manga.

The Grand Blue Dreaming manga first launched in Good! Afternoon back in April 2014, and 19 compiled volumes have been published as of August 2022.

New chapters are simulpubbed via Crunchyroll, and the series inspired both a TV anime in July 2018—which streamed around the world on Amazon Prime Video and a live-action film as well.

Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:

After moving out on his own to a seaside town, Iori Kitahara makes a college debut he never anticipated. A new chapter of his life unfolds, full of diving with beautiful girls and shenanigans with a gaggle of lovable bastards! Idiot-expert Kenji Inoue and au naturel authority Kimitake Yoshioka bring you a glorious college tale filled with booze-fueled antics!
