Golden Kamuy Announces Its First Animated Movies Ahead of Final Season

After 12 years, the Golden Kamuy anime will come to an end with 5 seasons, 5 OVAs and a 2-part movie.

On July 16, 2025, it was announced that the Final Season of Golden Kamuy will be released in January 2026.

Since June 2023, the Final Season was set for production, which left a 2-year gap without any announcements.

Before this, the “Sapporo Beer Factory” Arc will be adapted into a two-part movie, with Part 1 set for October 10, 2025 and Part 2 released on October 31, 2025.

The “Sapporo Beer Factory” Arc will cover Chapters 245 to 273, a total of 28 chapters and is widely considered oneof the best arcs of the series.

The teaser trailer shows Asirpa looking over Sapporo, Sugimoto fighting against Hijikata, Shiraishi’s antics, the 7th Division and Ogata making their moves while a serial killer, Michael Ostrog or Jack the Ripper, attacks.

The last shot shows the molten Golden Kamuy in the form of one of its coins, which manga fans recognize as a shot from one of the most important chapters in this arc.

Alongside the trailer, we receive a key visual featuring the two main hunters, Toshizo Hijikata to the left and 7th Division Lieutenant Tokushiro Tsurumi, the main villain of the series, to the right, with the star in the center featuring Asirpa, Saichi Sugimoto and Hyakunosuke Ogata below.

Awich × ALI will perform the official theme song for the two-part “Sapporo Beer Factory” arc, which is titled “Ougon no Achira” (“The Golden Beyond”).

While the movie airs, Golden Kamuy is also releasing the 5th OVA, titled, “”, likely as a way to promote the Final Arc of the series being animated, a sign of Golden Kamuy’s immense popularity in Japan.

About Golden Kamuy

Written to Satoru Noda, the Golden Kamuy manga was first serialized on for Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump on August 21, 2014 and ended on April 28, 2022, reaching 31 volumes.

Golden Kamuy currently has 4 seasons with 49 episodes and 5 Original Video Animations (OVAs).

The first three seasons and all 4 OVAs were produced by Geno Studio and began airing on April 9, 2018 and ended on December 21, 2020

Season 4 would be produced by Brain’s Base (Baccano! and To Your Eternity Season 1) under most of the same staff from previous seasons, beginning release on October 3, 2023.

However, the season would take an abrupt break on November 7, 2022 due to the loss of a significant staff member and thus ending the season on its 6th episode.

Season 4 returned on April 3, 2023 and ended on June 26, 2023 for a total of 13 episodes, as opposed to 12 like previous seasons, with the upcoming 5th OVA due October.

The anime has adapted 244 chapters, leaving only 70 chapters and its last three arcs to adapt.

The live-action Golden Kamuy film was released produced by Credeus and directed by Shigeaki Kubo, releasing first in Japanese theaters on January 19, 2024 and in Netflix on May 19, 2024.

The film stars Kento Yamazaki and Anna Yamada as the leads Saichi Sugimoto and Asirpa respectively.

The live-action film adapts the first three arcs of the manga.

This is followed by a TV drama sequel, “The Hunt of Prisoners in Hokkaido”, that adapts all the way to the Con Artists Arc (Chapters 81-101).

Golden Kamuy is the story of Saichi Sugimoto, a veteran of the Russo-Japanese War of 1905, and his journey with a young Ainu girl named Asirpa as they look for the 24 Abashiri convicts who had tattooed skins containing pieces of a map that would lead them to a treasure full of gold.
