Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Releases Latest Volume With Unfortunate News

On October 11, 2025, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Volume 15 has been released, featuring Frieren’s party, including Frieren herself, Fern and Stark, alongside Sein, and the three Shadow Warriors, Clematis, Iris and Routine, who are assigned to assassinate the Great Mage Serie.

This covers Chapter 138: “Traitor” to Chapter 146: “The Strongest Warrior”, which is the latest chapter released as of this week.

This will be released on October 18, 2025.

While this volume has been released after the long hiatus that ended on July 23 2025, this comes with unfortunate news.

There will be yet another indefinite hiatus for the manga due to the health of both the author and the artist.

The previous hiatus began on December 25, 2024 and ended on July 23, 2025, a total of 7 months, which was longer than the two hiatuses before it.

Likely due to how often these hiatuses have occurred, Weekly Shonen Sunday will review and adjust the publication pace and format before continuing.

This could potentially mean that the creators of the series will move to a new schedule akin to some authors, such as Vinland Saga’s Makoto Yukimura in Kodansha, who went from weekly to monthly early in the series’ run, or Black Clover’s Yuki Tabata who went from Weekly Shonen Jump to the quarterly Jump Giga for the final arc.

Season 2 will still be coming on January 2026.

About Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a fantasy adventure manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe for Shogakukan’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday since April 2020, reaching 14 volumes as of March 18, 2025.

The anime adaptation is under Studio Madhouse’s care, with Keiichirō Saitō (also the director of Bocchi the Rock) as director, releasing a total of 28 episodes and debuted with a 2-hour pilot special containing the first four episodes on September 29, 2023.

These 28 episodes adapted the first 60 chapters of the manga.

Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) is the music composer for the series.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is the story of Frieren, the elf mage from the Hero Party that defeated the Demon King, and her journey after the retirement of her Party. Joined by her apprentice Fern and their vanguard Stark, the group would roam across the world, with Frieren wanting to learn more magic while resting place of souls in order to reunite with Himmel, the Hero of her party.

By February 2025, the manga had over 24 million copies in circulation.
