Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 Surpasses Mugen Train With First Day Milestone
Demon Slayer breaks records with its latest movie, surpassing the first day box office of Mugen Train. Fans hope Infinity Castle Part 1 will be the highest-grossing anime film to date.

In Japan, the first part of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie trilogy, subtitled: “Akaza’s Return”, has just been released to cinemas.
As of 9:00 PM Japan Time on July 18, 2025, it was announced that the Demon Slayer movie has earned 1.6 Billion Yen (11 Million USD), breaking Mugen Train’s first-day record of 1.3 Billion Yen (7,02 Million USD in 2020’s money) within just 20 hours.
Additionally, fans have remarked that the movie had “terrifying animation” that has never been seen before in other anime and would set the standards for the anime industry moving forward.
Recently, Demon Slayer’s manga sales have also reached a major milestone at over 220 million copies sold worldwide, making it the seventh highest-grossing manga of all time.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train premiered in Japan on October 16, 2020 and ended up earning $507.1 million internationally, making it the highest grossing anime film from Japan of all time.
There are hopes that with this reception from Japan alone, Akaza’s Return will likely break this record as well.
