Creator Of The World’s Longest 4-Panel Manga, Shoji Izumi, Passes Away

He launched the four-panel manga series Jan-Ken-Pon in 1969.

Shoji Izumi, the creator of the longest 4-panel manga, Jan-Ken-Pon, passed away due to old age on October 29 at 7:06 p.m.

He passed away at the age of 91, and his family held a funeral service.

Izumi was born in Tokyo in 1932, and in 1969 he launched the four-panel manga series Jan-Ken-Pon in the Asahi Shogakusei Shimbun paper.

With over 15,000 strips as of November 24, 2016, his manga received Guinness World Records for having the “most strips published for the yonkoma manga series.

The manga completed its serialization this past March.
