Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc Releases Its Official Opening
The Chainsaw Man movie’s actual opening sequence is featured on Youtube, continuing the tradition of referencing Fujimoto’s cinematic inspirations and references to old works.

On October 7, 2025, Studio MAPPA animated produced a music video version of the opening theme for the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc titled, “Iris Out” by Kenshi Yonezu, who did the opening for Season 1, “Kick Back”.
Previously on September 15, 2025, we saw a music video that contained more movie clips in a music video format, primarily focused on the fight between Bomb Girl Reze and Chainsaw Man Denji, reaching 50 million views as of writing.
Here, we have the actual opening scene, which began after Denji wakes up from his usual dream of the Door that he is not to open.
The opening begins with Makima preparing her breakfast, followed by a brief montage of her reading the news and the files for Aki Hayakawa and Power.
We see multiple sequences amidst Denji and the trio heading out to Tokyo for their work, such as multiple Pochitas dancing and in an arcade format with points while Denji dreams of his interactions with various persons, such as Makima.Power, Angel, Himeno, Kobeni and potentially other girls for the rest of Part 1 (Quanxi and Santa Claus), ending on Reze, who is at the center of the film.
This is in reference to the scene where Denji thinks about the women in his life and also reminding himself that Angel is a guy.
There is also a scene of a woman, who resembles Makima’s look during her movie date with Denji, leaving a bomb pin that was on Reze’s neck choker, leading to an explosion.
Multiple characters appear, including the Angel Devil as he is a playground, Kobeni and the Violence Fiend, who appear after the splatter effect while Denji is on the train as to time with Kobeni dropping her burger and panicking.
Posters of “Goodbye Eri” and “Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man” can be seen in the opening animation.
This coincides with the release of the 17-26 anthology series on November 8 at Amazon Prime.
“Goodbye Eri” was also referenced in “Kick Back”.
Like “Kick Back” and the 12 endings of Season 1, there are multiple movie references laced in the opening: Denji riding on a horse calls back to the Horse in Motion (1872), which is also in Ending 5: “In the Back Room” by syudou, Angel’s arrival is based on Constantine (2005), which was also referenced in “Kick Back” with the scene between Aki and Himeno, Makima scratching her foot ties back to Quentin Tarantino’s known preferences and his film “Pulp Fiction” (1994), which is also referenced in Kick Back when Kishibe points a gun like Samuel Jackson’s character, and the Reze pin in Denji’s hand comes from “Leon the Professional” (1994).
This opening ends from Makima’s perspective when Denji enters Makima’s office.
The movie continues to be released, with the United States and other Western countries releasing starting on October 24.
“Iris Out” was digitally released on September 15, 2025 and has since maintaining high ratings, staying on its third week as the No. 1 on Japan Hot 100.
The song was later released physically on September 24, 2025, alongside the movie ending “Jane Doe”, sung by Yonezu and Hikaru Utada, as a double A-side single.
