After 11 years since its conclusion the anime adaptation of Yona of the Dawn will return with the same studio and to potentially conclude its lengthy story.

On October 20, 2026, it was officially announced that Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn) will continue and will be adapted once again by Pierrot Films, coinciding with the manga’s final volume 48 release after 16 years in the Hana to Yume magazine.

Previously on December 19, 2025, only 10 months ago, during the release of the final chapter, the anime sequel was announced.

The original 2014-2015 anime covered just the early arcs, ending at Chapter 47 but skipping Chapter 41.

As Akatsuki no Yona has 48 volumes, with 12 volumes being adapted into 24 episodes and 3 OVAs by the anime, this means the sequel will likely go through multiple cours over the years.

We could see 2 seasons or 4 cours worth of content produced over a 3-5 year period, depending on production circumstances.

This will be helmed by Pierrot just like the original adaptation but now with the latest technology and techniques at the studio’s disposal that have made the likes of Black Clover Season 2 and Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War such stunning watch experiences.

There is no set release date or year.

Yona of the Dawn is the story of Princess Yona as she flees from a coup in the East Asian-inspired kingdom of Kouka by her cousin Soo-Won, who murdered her father, and comes across four Dragon Warriors to aid in her quest to save the kingdom
