Akane Banashi Anime Helmed by Witch Hat Atelier Director
We have officially seen the trailer for the Akane-Banashi anime and it looks promising
On August 4, 2025, we witnessed the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Akane Banashi anime by Studio Zecxs (Mushishi) that has been officially announced set for 2026.
Previously, a new web domain was leaked prior to the big announcement.
Ayumu Watanabe is the director for the series, having been chief director for Komi-San Can’t Communicate and director for the upcoming Witch Hat Atelier series.
While fans are excited for the series’ adaptation, a few are worried as the director will also be handling the Bug Films adaptation of Witch Hat Atelier.
Considering the fate of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, these worries are warranted yet there are also hopes the two upcoming adaptations will have equally compelling visuals and solid direction.

Akane-Banashi was written by Yuki Suenaga and illustrated by Takamasa Moue for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, beginning February 14, 2022.
Having reached 17 volumes, the manga has sold more than 2 million copies as of September 2024.
Akane-Banashi is the story of Akane, a young girl who aspires to become a skilled Rakugo artist under Shiguma Arakawa’s tutelage.
