Top 5 Swordsmen In One Piece Ranked

Only the greatest can reach the top.

One Piece: Swordsmen
One Piece: Top Swordsmen

There are many powerful swordsmen in the world of One Piece, so there is a lot of competition among the lot. To be considered as one of the top swordsmen is a challenging feat that requires a lifetime of dedication. With that being said, let’s discuss and rank the top 5 swordsmen in One Piece!

5) Roronoa Zoro

Without a doubt, Roronoa Zoro deserves a spot in this list. Zoro, the unofficial first mate of the Straw Hat Pirates, boasts a bounty of 1,111,000,000 berries. His dream is to become the greatest swordsman, and he is well on his way to achieving his goal! He can be best characterized by his incredible strength and 3-sword style.

Even when Zoro was just a boy, he was able to defeat adult swordsmen.

Zoro's 3-sword style

Zoro has trained tirelessly to reach his current heights, including the two years he spent training under Dracule Mihawk in chapter 597. On top of that, he has unlocked his Conqueror’s Haki! We get to see the extent of Zoro’s ability and Haki when he leaves a scar on Kaidou in chapter 937, which only Kozuki Oden had been able to do before. Zoro achieved this feat by taming Oden’s sword, Enma.

By the end of Wano, he not only subdued Enma, but he also pierced King’s Lunarian skin. It is just a matter of time before Zoro becomes the strongest swordsman in One Piece.

4) Kozuki Oden

Kozuki Oden, a former member of the Roger Pirates and user of Conqueror’s Haki, is one of the most powerful swordsmen that ever lived in One Piece. Originally from the land of Wano, Oden set sail with the Whitebeard Pirates before eventually joining Roger’s crew.

Whitebeard and Roger even saw Oden as their equal, as they shared sake with him in chapter 966.

Oden is so strong that he was able to inflict a mortal wound on Kaidou, the world’s strongest creature. He could have landed a finishing blow if it weren’t for the interference of one of Kaidou’s cronies (chapter 970). Despite being killed by Kaidou, Oden still has a group of loyal retainers that fight to maintain his legacy.

After Oden returned from the seas, his dream was to open the borders of Wano to the world. While Oden himself will be unable to carry out this wish, the Straw Hat Pirates and his loyal retainers will see it to fruition.

3) Shanks

“Red-Haired” Shanks has an undeniable place on this list. Captain of the Red Hair Pirates and an Emperor of the Sea, Shanks has a staggering bounty of 4,048,900,000 berries. His ability to use Conqueror’s Haki and his swordsmanship make him a devastating opponent.

Shank’s mastery of Conqueror’s Haki is so immense that he can turn thousands of men unconscious in seconds. However, normal men aren’t the only ones who can be affected. His Haki alone was enough to scare off Admiral Greenbull in chapter 1055. On top of that, Shanks can even duel his rival Dracule Mihawk, who is known as the “Strongest Swordsman”, on equal footing.

While some may speculate that swordsmanship is not Shanks’s main form of combat, his skill and strength with the sword would undoubtedly put most who dare to face him in their graves.

2) Dracule Mihawk

It should come as no surprise that Dracule Mihawk is placed this high in the ranking. After all, he is currently known as the “Strongest Swordsman in the World” in the One Piece universe. Mihawk has more than just one title, however. He was also a Warlord of the Sea, and was given the name “Marine Hunter” in the past.

With a hefty bounty of 3,590,000,000, Mihawk’s abilities have earned him a reputation with pirates and the World Government alike.

Zoro views Mihawk as the ultimate obstacle to overcome. This makes perfect sense when you consider that Mihawk could stop Zoro’s immense physical strength and swordsmanship with a single dagger, all while using only one hand. Zoro admitted that even after two years of training under Mihawk, he was nowhere near Mihawk’s level.

Dracule Mihawk

Mihawk’s attacks could be likened to a natural disaster. A single slash is enough to create a dense blade of air that can destroy a massive ship from a great distance, as seen in chapter 49. Furthermore, Mihawk has mastered Observation Haki and was even given the nickname “Hawk Eyes”. In chapter 561, Mihawk was even able to track and dodge all of Luffy’s high-speed gear two attacks with ease.

With the combination of his advanced swordsmanship, Haki, and strength, Mihawk is certainly worthy of his current title.

1) Gol D. Roger

Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, is known as the most powerful and influential pirate that ever lived. Before he died, his bounty was 5,564,800,000 berries, which is the highest in pirate history. While not much of Roger’s fighting style has been revealed, the glimpses we caught prove that Roger is extremely powerful as a swordsman.

He possessed immense physical strength, and he was able to send Oden flying with ease. Furthermore, Roger could go head-to-head with Whitebeard in his prime, as seen in chapter 967. Gol D. Roger also possessed all three types of Haki (including Conqueror’s Haki) and the Voice of All Things.

His mastery of Haki was beyond substantial, allowing him to imbue his sword with Armament and Conqueror’s Haki. Kaidou even mentioned that Roger’s Haki made him the strongest man in the world, despite not having eaten a devil fruit. As it stands, Gol D. Roger belongs at the top of this list.
