5 Characters That May Surpass Gojo Satoru In Jujutsu Kaisen!
According to Gege Akutami, the author of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo is the pinnacle of power in the series! So far, there are no known characters who can kill him (although he was bested by Kenjaku).
In this article, we are going to look at 5 characters who might be able to surpass Gojo Satoru in terms of power!
1) Okkutsu Yuta:
Who else to kick start this list than Yuta himself? Yuta became a special-grade sorcerer at a very young age. He is also a fan favorite for being the first one to surpass Gojo since even Gojo hints at it numerous times!
Chapter 173 of the manga states that Yuta is second only to none other than Gojo!
We knew he was strong, but Yuta actually has MORE cursed energy than Gojo himself, although he expends it at a much higher rate.
The source of Yuta’s power is “Rika”, the vengeful spirit of his childhood crush and best friend of the same name. It turned out that Yuta had created this Rika when he accidentally cursed her spirit when she died. His will to not let go made her become his guardian with lingering attachment!
Later, Yuta joined the Jujutsu school to control and free Rika from the curse. In the process, he became powerful because of her. Geto called Rika the Queen of Curses, which was evident from Yuta’s growth and fights!
Let’s take a look at some of his powers:
- Copy: Yuta can copy certain cursed techniques. For example, Rika can manifest a bullhorn with cursed markings that would enable Yuta to use Inumaki’s Cursed Speech technique!
- Rika: Rika can also appear next to Yuta and attack enemies when she senses danger approaching! During Jujutsu Kaisen Vol 0, for Yuta to beat Geto into a pulp without much prior training is a testament to Rika’s powers! She was able to defend and help Yuta attack their enemy effectively.
Even though Yuta “lost” Rika after the fight, he can still access the cursed spirit of Rika for a short time! Apart from that, he’s a master of using various weapons and Reversed Cursed Technique as well!
- Reversed Cursed Technique: The Reversed Cursed Technique allows a user to convert negative energy into positive, allowing them to heal humans!
The mastery of this technique makes him stand out far above the rest of the crop!
This brings him closer to Gojo’s level already, and eventually, Yuta can refine his Curse Energy and the Rika limit to finally surpass Gojo!
2) Hakari Kinji:
Infamous for his short temper, Hakari Kinji is a third-year student at Jujutsu High! His strength has been foreshadowed right from chapter 11 itself when Satoru Gojo said that Hakari has the potential to surpass him! Apart from his insane Battle IQ and high CE, Hakari’s Domain expansion is the real deal!
- Domain Expansion: Hakari’s domain expansion is called Idle Death Gamble or Restless Gambler and is based on the pachinko system. Every step of this domain is based on probability, and even Hakari has no clue if he will hit a jackpot or not.
Pachinko refers to a slot machine that shoots tiny silver balls at a fast pace. The aim is to hit jackpots in a limited time by either managing to get the ball in the jackpot area and/or winning mini-games.
Just like the usual pachinko machine has a theme, Hakari’s domain also has one. His theme is CR Private Pure Love Train, a manga with 7 characters all representing 7 numbers.
The end goal of Hakari is also to hit a jackpot by getting three of the same character.
This jackpot gives absolutely BROKEN advantages to Hakari:
- Replenished Cursed Energy.
- Infinite Cursed Energy for 4 minutes and 11 seconds.
- Super resistance to pain.
- Automatic Reversed Cursed Technique.
- Higher Probability of a Jackpot or faster spins.
The probability to hit the jackpot is 1/239. If Hakari manages to keep hitting jackpots, he will eventually reach the point of the guaranteed jackpot every single time! After this point, he is literally unstoppable till the end of time!
3) Zenin Maki:
When JJK was in its beginning arcs, nobody would’ve thought that Maki would turn into a mass murderer. Well, at least it was for the right reasons!
For the longest time, Maki’s potential was suppressed by a heavenly restriction. And, for the universe, twins are considered to be the same and because of this Maki and Mai’s progress was interconnected.
For Mai to grow strong, Maki shouldn’t have even an ounce of CE and vice-verse for Maki. Basically, one of them had to die so that the other could grow. Before the culling game, the Zennin clan wanted to get rid of Maki and Mai in hopes of weakening Megumi, the current head of the clan!
Maki and Mai were left to die, but Mai sacrificed herself and left a cursed weapon behind. With this, Maki was free. All of her abilities received a massive boost, allowing her to massacre the whole clan, including the elders with zero difficulties!
Now, Maki is comparable to Toji, the man who almost killed Gojo in Gojo’s Past Arc! With a good weapon and more training, Maki will have a strong shot at surpassing Gojo someday!
4) Fushigoro Megumi:
Megumi, the deuteragonist of the series, is the favorite of multiple top-level sorcerers, and for the right reason!
Gojo himself has said that Megumi can surpass him and even Sukuna, the King of Curses agrees. Furthermore, Naobito Zennin wrote in his will that Megumi would become the clan leader upon his death!
A big reason for this is his CT, which is one of the strongest of all time! The Ten Shadow Technique allows him to create Ten Shikigami at once, each with an increased level of strength.
No one with this Cursed Technique so far has been able to exorcise Mahoraga, the final Shikigami. On top of that, Ten Shadows users have fought on par against Six Eyes users and even defeated a Six Eyes user at one point in time!
Sukuna has stated that Megumi’s Domain Expansion will be one of the strongest once it has been mastered! All of this combined with his amazing genes as Toji’s son gives Megumi major potential to surpass Gojo!
5) Itadori Yuuji:
Itadori Yuji, the protagonist, is destined to surpass Gojo. However, this destiny is not a blessing, it’s a curse. Itadori is the perfect child Kenjaku was trying to create. The Curse Wombs (Choso and his brothers) were some of the failed test subjects, explaining why they share a bond with Itadori.
To do so, he possessed Itadori’s mother, as revealed in the manga. This explains why Itadori could break most national and world records for numerous sports with zero training and effort!
Furthermore, Yuji being the only person in history to become Sukuna’s vessel isn’t some anomaly, it is a result of this methodical process by Kenjaku.
As Itadori eats more of Sukuna’s fingers, he’ll get stronger along with Sukuna, and eventually, he will inevitably become stronger than Gojo. While Sukuna himself may not be stronger, Itadori’s body and his training will add up to Sukuna’s power and elevate him to a level above Gojo Satoru.
