10 Best Female Tsundere Character Of All Time Ranked!

Kaguya Shinomiya
Kaguya Sama Love Is War

Tsundere characters are arguably the most loved character tropes in otaku culture. “Tsun” means the harsh outer shell of the fruit, while “dere” refers to the softer fruit inside the shell.

This analogy encapsulates a tsundere character perfectly. Often, female, tsunderes are known for their reluctance to show affection and kindness. Today, we’re going to take a look at the 10 best tsundere characters of all time.

This is not because you like them or something, baka.

10) Yui Kotegawa (To Love Ru):

Yui Kotegawa is a modest, well-behaved girl. To her, the main characters of To Love Ru, Rito, and Lala are a big problem. The two always end up in inappropriate situations in school and in public.

Yui Kotegawa to love ru

Like the modest, innocent girl she is, Yui despises perverse activities. In a true anime and tsundere fashion, she falls for Rito.

However, she is still an innocent girl and doesn’t understand much about love. At times, she lets her affection slip out for Rito as she’s attracted to him.

9) Nagatoro San (Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro):

Hayase Nagatoro loves to tease her senpai, Naoto Hachiouji. After meeting him in a library as he awkwardly worked on his manga, Nagatoro decides to have some fun teasing the docile senior.

However, as this becomes a regular part of their lives, the two develop an interesting bond. As one would expect, Nagatoro falls for him, pretty much.

Being the tsundere she is, she’ll just keep teasing Hachiouji while blushing!

8) Noelle Silva (Black Clover):

Noelle Silva, a noble belongs to the upper echelon of the Clover Kingdom’s society. Of course, this gives her a sense of pride as she possesses far more mana than most people.

However, the Silva family considers her to be a failure. Being an outcast, Noelle joined the Black Bulls, the worst team out of all. Developing an inferiority complex, Noelle felt compelled to play the nobility card, even in front of our protagonist ASta.

In time, she fell in love with Asta for obvious reasons. Still, she doesn’t accept these feelings completely just yet and refrains from showing affection.

As of late, Noelle has been working to become a better person and truly appreciates Asta.

7) Chitoge Kirisaki: Nisekoi (False Love):

Chitoge Kirisaki, a half-Japanese girl moves back to Japan, to live with her infamous crime family. Her family is about to go to war with a rival Yakuza family. However, some members assume that Chitoge and Raku Ichijo, the Yakuza boss’ son are dating.

This stops the war, but, there’s one problem: they aren’t dating. As the two participate in a fake love for the sake of well, peace, Chitoge falls in love with Raku.

But, being a blonde half-Japanese character in anime means that she has to be a tsundere! Hence, she relies on hitting Raku and never expressing her feelings!

6) Taiga Aisaka (Toradora!):

Taiga Aisaka is the short girl you should be scared of. She is aggressive, strong, and has a hot head. During her usual school days, she gets to know Ryuji Takasu. Ryuji has a similar impression on people due to his appearance. However, he is a soft, nurturing person.

Taiga Aisaka

The two find out that they like each other’s best friends, and make a pact to help each other out! However, in true romance fashion, Taiga falls for Ryuji instead. Her complex relationship with Ruji combined with her tsundere personality adds a lot of drama and spice to the story!

5) Makise Kurisu (Steins; Gate):

Makise Kurisu is a tsundere, but smart. Like, nerd smart. She skipped grades in school and has published research papers as well.

Makise Kirisu Steins Gate

Makise is one of those characters that are deliberately made tsundere just because of how popular the trope is. This isn’t a bad thing, though. What we get is the usual blushing and antiques, combined with people calling her a tsundere. While she obviously refuses the claim, this makes her even more tsundere!

4) Tohsaka Rin (Fate/Stay: Night):

Rub Tohsaka is a tsundere, but in reverse, in a sense. To the public, Rin is a smart girl and admired by many for her ladylike behavior. However, to close friends, she’s a loud and stingy person.

Tohsaka Fate/Stay Night

While she lets this side of her slip out with her sarcasm and hostility at times, Rin is still an amazing tsundere who is super cute. Oh, did I mention to forget that she is the 5th Holy Grail War’s master of Archer and the current head of her bloodline?

3) Misaki Ayuzawa (Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama):

Misaki Ayuzawa is the protagonist of the anime “Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama!”, and the name of the anime gives away the plot! She is the Student Council President of the once-all-boys school.

Ayuzawa Mizaki Kaichou Wa Maid Sama

One day, her rival, Usui Takumi discovers a secret about the president that could potentially tarnish her image: Misaki works at a maid cafe. Usui disrupts Misaki’s serene life and a beautiful story ensues as Misaki’s tsundere personality comes out on full display!

2)) Asuka Langley (Neon Genesis Evangelion):

Asuka Langley is arguably the most iconic tsundere for a generation of anime fans. She has, in a sense, popularised many of the tsundere traits! She is half-Japanese, hotheaded, and aggressive.

Asuka Langley Neon Genesis Evangelion

Asuka was far more antagonistic towards Shinji than most tsunderes, however. As time passes, the two do grow closer, and Asuka does develop an attraction toward Shinji. However, Neon Genesis Evangelion isn’t as simple as other animes.

Asuka’s past trauma alongside Shinji’s makes it impossible for them to ever come to terms with these feelings. This is what really makes her tsundere, though, and too a natural and amazing one.

1) Kaguya Shinomiya (Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War):

There might be a little bias here, but Kaguya is my favorite tsundere of all time. Kaguya Shinomiya is the elegant, beautiful and intelligent vice president of the Shuchiin Academy. She is deeply in love with Miyuki Shirogane, the president.

Kaguya Shinomiya Love is WarHowever, there is one problem: she will never confess out of pride. Unbeknownst to her, Shirgaone is the same! This is how the two enter a war for love as they attempt to somehow get the other person to confess first!

Kaguya’s love is very passionate, unlike how she shows herself to be. Her reactions, panic, and pouts are so cute, and the voice actor nails the character too. While this might be a little annoying for people who want them to be together, the journey is sometimes better than the destination.
