Jujutsu Kaisen: Did Yuta Kill Yuji?

The Shibuya Incident arc is a chaotic arc, where fans witness the death of numerous characters. One such character was shockingly Yuji, the protagonist!

You might think that this is similar to when Sukuna “killed” Yuji, but you’d be wrong! It was an incident involving Yuta Okkotsu, the protagonist of JJK: 0!

In this article, let’s take a look at what happened to Yuji in the Shibuya incident arc!

Did Yuta Kill Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Yes, Yuta did kill Yuji, but actually, he did not.

In chapter 137 of the manga, the halt to Yuji’s execution was lifted after the news of Gojo’s sealing broke out. And, Okkotsu Yuta was assigned to be Yuji’s executioner by the higher-ups.

And, by the end of chapter 142, Yuji had been stabbed right in his heart and was being dragged by Yuta.

This confused the fans as Yuta is Gojo’s pupil, who wanted to protect Yuji. Furthermore, Yuta is a very likable character in Jujutsu Kaisen: 0. 

Then, in chapter 143 of the manga, we see Yuji waking up as Yuta finally breaks into a smile, relieved. Yuta then explains that he became Yuji’s executioner to protect him, as anybody else would’ve killed him seriously.

However, the higher-ups knew that Gojo and Yuta were close, and hence, Okkotsu had to form a binding vow, which forced him to kill Yuji.

Fortunately, the higher-ups are unaware of the fact that Yuta can use the Reversed Cursed Technique, which can heal its user or anybody else.

Hence, Yuta stabbed Yuji in the heart to stop his heartbeat, effectively complementing the binding vow, and then proceeded to use RCT to heal Yuji and bring him back to life!

In chapter 142 of the manga, it was hinted that Yuta didn’t actually want to kill Yuji. When Yuta stabbed Itadori, Sukuna was getting up to fight, when he realized that something was different, and he sat down while smiling ear to ear.

Through this, Yuta managed to carry out Yuji’s execution while saving him as well!
