Chainsaw Man’s Biggest Asspull Or Decent Plot Development? How Did Nuclear Weapons Return to Chainsaw Man? Chainsaw Man Chapter 209 Review!
Was this an asspull that came out of nowhere like Sakamoto Days’ Tunnel Effect or all part of Fujimoto’s grand plan from the start?

In the previous Chainsaw Man chapter, it seems the Falling Devil has killed off Yoru and Asa with their own sword.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 209 is titled, “Terrifying Weapon”
This chapter has 14 pages.
The chapter begins where we left off as Yoru/Asa was pierced through the brain by the Falling Devil’s attack, with the random man being killed while Denji is stuck in place.
The Falling Devil enters the house. She is quite tall.
And she remarks that she thought she was holding back, thus showing how much the War Devil has weakened.
Suddenly, the Falling Devil is pierced from behind by one of Yoru’s weapon.
Yoru returns unscathed somehow.
Oh no, I am seeing Sakamoto Days flashbacks from the Tunnel Effect.
Falling Devil repels Yoru to fix herself but then Yoru returns to turn the devil chef into sashimi.
As she grabs one of the Falling Devil’s scythe arms, Yoru, with tears in her eyes, asks why did she forget.
But then she realizes something else: why did she even remember?
It seems Yoru’s full power is back as now with one punch, she crushes the top half of the Falling Devil.
We see Denji is still unconscious and bleeding out from the sword on his head.
The TV in the house broadcasts some breaking news.
In the war between the United States of America and the Soviet Union, America built a new weapon and bombed several cities with it.
Not only is it a weapon of war but it is intended to be used against devils.
The news anchor notes the new information on this weapon being made of uranium or plutonium, seemingly hearing about atomic energy for the first time.
And now we get the name of the weapon: Nuclear Weapons, with a rather cinematic shot of Yoru in shock at this development.
If you recall, the Chainsaw Devil, Pochita, consumed many Devils but the act of consuming Devils erases them and their concepts from existence in the universe.
This is the tricky part: Pochita swallowed the Nuclear Weapons Devil.
Normally, no one should even remember that nukes exist but Yoru does.
Additionally, Pochita also ate a portion of the War Devil, which weakened Yoru and led to the events of Chainsaw Man Part 2 where she possessed Asa Mitaka’s body.
So how did Yoru regain full power but more importantly, how did nuclear weapons even return?
The answer lies in how things exist to begin with.
Nuclear weapons are not objects that exist solely by themselves: they must be build with radioactive components and armaments to cover them.
This means that since humans can still invent anything new, it so happens that humans rediscovered nuclear weapons.
Now there is also the fact that there is still an ongoing war between the two Great Powers in spite of a portion of War being consumed.
If Pochita ate Yoru completely, the war between them and all future wars would never exist, potentially seeing either the end of all human conflict or violence being kept privatized and contained.
It is possible that the twist could work because wars still exist, not because Denji is dead or Pochita has vomited the Nuclear Weapons Devil.
We might see answers in the next chapter but on its own, there is something “forced” about the twist, which is shown through the text-heavy news, which is not common for Chainsaw Man, and it happening just when Yoru and Denji entered a house with television and both being on the verge of inevitable death at the hands of a Primal Devil.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 210 will be released on July 30, 2025.
