One Piece Live-Action Poster Leaked, Fans Split On Design Changes
The live-action adaptation is scheduled to launch in second half of 2023.
On Wednesday a poster of highly anticipated One Piece Live-Action surfaced on the internet.
The poster shows the iconic first ship of the Straw Hat Crew, Going Merry.

Going Merry is portrayed in a very realistic rendition of the original with the figurehead as the central focus.
The ship has been revamped with a more realistic goat face, unlike its initial cartoonish portrayal in the anime.
Additionally, vertical carvings can be seen on the sides of the ship’s front, which was not included in the original form.
This has stirred discussion among fans as many claims that the live-action adaptation may fail to capture the essence of the original work.
This is because numerous live-action anime adaptations have struggled to capture the essence of their source material.
The difficulties lie not in the quality of the CGI or the actors’ performances, but in transferring the unique aspects of anime into a live-action format.
This is because of the fantastical and larger-than-life aspect of shonen action scenes which makes adaptations extremely tough.
The eight-episode-long first season of the live-action series, shot in South Africa, is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2023.
Eiichiro Oda, author the One Piece has been closely involved with the project.
He has even mentioned the difficulties which arose during the collaboration.
Oda’s dedication to quality is clear, in his message on May 4.
In the message, he assured his fans that Netflix has vowed not to release the series until he approves of the outcomes.
