The chapter begins with both sides of the audience cheering for their respective champions.
Teddy snags possession of the ball but Isagi goes after him.
Teddy’s backstep is still quite fast and while Isagi tries to provoke him, the doll Teddy is unmoved as his backstep was actually a “Repulsion Step” to attack Isagi to get behind him, creating a momentary pause on the backstep for acceleration.
Then the chameleon and crow, Reo and Karasu, come together to trap Teddy as Isagi was the distraction.
However, Teddy notes this is within his coach Fox’s calculations as he passes the ball to his teammates.
Isagi wanted to draw Teddy’s ego out to devour him but he feels nothing from any of them.
Reo and Karasu wonder if it is even fun playing soccer with yes men but all of them respond affirmatively, with Achanpong even saying that, with the notable exception of Agi, they all follow Fox willingly as volunteers, a concept that is beyond Isagi’s comprehension as an Egoist.
Teddy prepares to take the shot to the goal but that was actually a cross to the newcomer, Lockhart, who ultimately shoots the ball for England’s second goal, all the while Isagi realizes England is beyond Blue Lock’s “common sense”.
England 2 – 1 Japan
As England celebrates, Teddy comes to Isagi, telling him that he hates the word “self-affirmation” because it means someone is a failure if they do not affirm themselves.
Within Teddy is a sense of incompetence, a contrast
Indeed, it is time for Isagi and Blue Lock to learn how to channel defeat to evolve their egos.
