Green Yuri Anime Announced

The hit Green Yuri manga will have an anime coming next year, featuring the tailored playlist provided by the author herself!

On July 4, 2026, it has been officially announced on Anime Expo that Green Yuri will be getting an anime that will air on January 2027.

This was previously leaked last month.

The studio responsible is Cloverworks, known for their hit romances such as Horimiya, Spy x Family, My Dress Up Darling, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity and more.

Masashi Ishihama, the series director for Horimiya, will serve as director for this adaptation.

The opening song is “Breed”, the 1991 song which was originally from the album Nevermind by Nirvana.

Of note, this is based on the music Mitsuki and Aya listen throughout the series and made into a playlist by the author Sumiko Arai.

This is an official playlist released by Universal Music Japan with the release of the first volume, featuring songs from artists such as Nirvana, Turnstile, and Royal Blood, among others and they are updated with each new volume.

As such, we could see these songs play throughout the anime as well.

About “The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All”

Written and illustrated, this is a four-page manga series by Sumiko Arai for Kadokawa Shoten but originally designed for posting on Twitter, which has a limit of four images per post.

As of February 2026, there have been four volumes of 3 chapters each, with 12 chapters total containing over 150 parts, with 166 total parts currently posted.

The manga has popularly been called “Green Yuri” due to the green color accent throughout all of its pages.

The story follows gyaru Aya Oosawa, who has developed a crush on the clerk of the record store and they share love for rock music, not knowing the seemingly male clerk is actually her female classmate Mitsuki Koga.
