As Nagi celebrates his rebirth, Jinpachi Ego puts forward the core question of Blue Lock: what is ego?

BLUE LOCK © 2018 by Kaneshiro Muneyuki and Nomura Yuusuke/KODANSHA.

In the previous Blue Lock chapter, we return to Side B as Nagi struggles to finish the Birdcage elimination round.

Blue Lock Chapter 349 is titled, “Re:Live”

This chapter has 20 pages.

Wait, this is not Tokyo Ghoul:re.

Editor’s note: “Putting survival on the line, SIDE-B heats up again! The feeling of living passionately… This is “Blue Lock”!!”

Seishiro Nagi and Shigeo Mizuki are now the Birds.

The chapter continues where we left off as Nagi feels the fire he lost reignite as he is now in a game of survival.

Nagi rushes forward, feeling like he is no longer using someone else (Reo Mikage) as an excuse and now he is fighting the battlefield alone.

Shigeo Mizuki chose Nagi to be his partner because of his strength and determination.

Nagi asks what Shigeo can do, to which Shigeo says that he can run a lot, which Nagi is fine with.

One of the Birdcage players thinks the ball is still safe but Shigeo charges, leading to the ball coming to Nagi, who headbutts it for Shigeo to claim.

A group of four charge against Shigeo, forcing Shigeo to pass the ball to Nagi.

While the Birdcage game was designed to foster teamwork, it did the complete opposite for Nagi, essentially uncovering the spark of Blue Lock’s egoism within this setup, saying that the exchange of egos produces the fire he was looking for.

Recalling Reo’s sadness and Isagi telling Nagi not to quit soccer, Nagi declares his will to live and clears the game, allowing Shigeo and Nagi to proceed.

Meanwhile in the U-20 Japan Representative Locker Room, Isagi and Karasu reflect on their respective weaknesses: Isagi seeing himself as unfit to be Number 1, which was and Karasu not meeting the aptitude to take Blue Lock to the next level.

Karasu had the right mindset as the Number 2 but lacked the power to put it forward while Isagi lost his innate adaptability as a Talented Learner or Prodigy because of this fixation of being at the top.

Karasu suggests that before putting forward a new plan, they should express their feelings, spilling their guts out, and opening the floor to doubts about Ego’s methods, which Isagi agrees to doing.

Yukimiya brings up how after all this time, they need to reconcile their current egos.

The chapter ends with Ego pointing out that everyone uses the term “egoist” so naturally but now is the time to understand the real meaning of Ego.

350 chapters of Blue Lock must have led to this point.
