Will There Be a Soul Eater Remake?

After a year of inactivity, the Soul Eater official account teases a possible announcement that will shake the anime community.

On April 23, 2026, the official Soul Eater Twitter Account posts an ominous tweet, with the image of the Soul Eater moon and the line “Next is…”

Referencing the ending of Fire Force, where it ends with “Next is Soul World”, to reinforce that it is the prequel to Soul Eater.

The account has been inactive for a full year, not since April 17, 2025.

This is one of many hints

During the final episode, titled, “Hero’s Tale”, the epilogue segment featured Ending 3 of Soul Eater, “Bakusou Yumeta”, something that was quite unexpected considering that Fire Force and Soul Eater not only have different animation studios but also different production committees (outside of the author Atsushi Ohkubo) and different magazines (Soul Eater is from Square Enix, the same as Fullmetal Alchemist, while Fire Force is from Kodansha).

Furthermore, in one tweet, the author has stated:

“If there’s another Fire Force project or something else comes up, I’ll show up for some promo stuff like always, hehe!”

Which could mostly be a reference to more exhibitions and projects related to the franchise as authors such as Kohei Horikoshi has said the same thing after the ending of My Hero Academia.

But with this tweet from an inactive account, we could be seeing one of two possilibities.

Either Ohkubo comes out of his early retirement to do another Soul Eater-related work.

Or we will see a full adaptation of Soul Eater, with “Brotherhood” treatment, something fans have waited for since the disappointing anime-only ending.

While Soul Eater’s monthly manga ran from May 12, 2004 to August 12, 2013, the anime aired only halfway into the manga’s run from April 7, 2008 to March 30, 2009 with 51 episodes, with Episode 36, the adaptation for Chapter 36, marking a major turning point where the anime followed its own path, something that happened to Fullmetal Alchemist’s 2003 adaptation before a more faithful adaptation called Brotherhood was released in 2009, right around the time Soul Eater’s anime was ending.
