Gintama Creator Returns with New Hit Manga After 7 Years!
After 7 years, Gintama’s creator returns with a new comedy manga, this time on a Demon Princess entering human high school.
On April 20, 2026, Weekly Shonen Jump released a new series titled, “Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz” by Hideaki Sorachi, the author of Gintama, which ended on June 20, 2019 after a 16-year run.
Close to this time, on April 16, Sorachi’s first manga one-shot, Dandelion, saw its original net animation (ONA) released, with 7 episodes around 23-28 minutes each.
Gintama has made a return, first with an anime on the 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-sensei spin-off light novel aired from October 7 to December 23, 2025
This is followed with the Yoshiwara in Flames Arc remake film on February 13, 2026.
The official summary is as follows:
“The Demon King who brought darkness to the world has been defeated by the hero, and the light has returned. But the Demon King leaves a part of himself behind as a successor known as Valaris III. To regain their reign of darkness, the new Demon King ventures out of the demon castle and heads to our world, but where they emerge is… From the creator of Gintama comes a devilish new comedy!”
