Is Chainsaw Man Part 2 Ending Soon?
Chainsaw Man could be entering its final few chapters with this announcement from its editor.
With the release of Chainsaw Man Volume 23 on February 4th, Chainsaw Man editor Shihei Lin has announced that the manga has reached a “crucial story point”.
Some fans have readily assumed that this means we are entering the last five chapters.
Previously for Part 1, Lin had announced on November 20, 2020 that Chainsaw Man had entered its “Final Phase”, which was around the release of Chapter 94: “Chainsaw Man vs the Weapon Devils”.
Part 1 ended with Chapter 97: “I. Love. Chainsaw” on December 14, 2020, three weeks after such an announcement.
If Volume 24 will be the final volume, this means that it will cover Chapter 223: “Ultimate Armor” up to possibly Chapter 233 or Chapter 234 if we go by the amount of pages the Chainsaw Man manga normally has.
The most recent chapter is Chapter 228: “Dove”, which leaves the possibility of 5 to 6 more chapters coming.
As Chainsaw Man will be on break next week, this means that March 25, 2026 or sometime in early April 2026 will be the date for the likely final chapter of the series.
However, while Part 1 bluntly used “final phase”, “crucial story point” sounds like different terminology.
Yet with where we are with the story, nothing is coincidental.
On the other hand, the reason for the usage of this term could be because of the possibility of Part 3.
Some fans theorize that since Fujimoto’s previous long-running story, Fire Punch (2016-2018), followed a three-act structure across its 83 chapters (Prologue: Flame-Covered Man, starts in Chapter 1, Interlude: Flame-Covering Man starts in Chapter 28 and Climax: Flame-Burdened Man starts in Chapter 60), there is the possibility that Part 3 will conclude the Chainsaw Man storyline.
Part 2 is currently the longest part in the Chainsaw Man story, having 132 chapters as opposed Part 1’s 97 chapters, spanning 12 volumes at present, beginning in July 13, 2022, coinciding with the release of Chainsaw Man Season 1.
Chainsaw Man has sold 35 million copies worldwide.
