The Longest Season of Tensura is Here!
This will be the longest season of Tensura, with most episodes likely light novel content that has yet to be adapted in the manga.
On January 15, 2026, it was announced that “That Time I Reincarnated As a Slime” (“Tensura” for short) will air Season 4 starting on April 3, 2026 with two consecutive cours.
In an unusual move even by seasonal anime, this will be a five-cour anime season, much longer than the four-cour Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War.
With the first two out of five cours being released this year, this will run from April 3, 2026 to September 18, 2026, a similar schedule to the previous season.
Each cour is around 12 episodes and with each Tensura season being 24 episodes, with Season 2 divided into 2 cours of 12 episodes, it is likely each cour is 12 episodes for a total of 60 episodes.
The Tensura anime finished its Season 3 in September 2024, ending around the epilogue of Light Novel Volume 9, which corresponds to the start of Manga Volume 27 out of 31 and Chapter 118 out of 137 overall, where the final episode’s title, “After the Festival”, comes from, covering the aftermath of the fight with the Eastern Empire.
The previous season 3 that aired from April 5, 2024 to September 27, 2024 covered Volumes 7 (April 28, 2016) to 9 (November 30, 2016) of the light novel and Manga Volumes 19 (December 9, 2021) to the start of 27 (September 9, 2024).
This means that a 60-episode anime season will likely cover 3 times the amount of volumes, with light novel Volume 10 (April 7, 2017) being the start and to Volume 15 (September 28, 2019) being a likely end or Manga Volume 27, beginning in Chapter 119: “A Brisk Labyrinth Business” (September 9, 2024) to Manga Volume 31 and beyond, which is still within Light Novel Volume 11.
With the first two cours or 24 episodes being aired this year, they will likely cover up to around Volume 12 of the Light Novel and could somewhat go beyond manga content like Season 2 did.
Of note, the studio handling the whole series is 8bit, responsible for the adaptation of Blue Lock and has received controversy for the lackluster animation of the majority of Season 2 except for the final episode, leading to some fans thinking that Blue Lock will still be a lesser priority in terms of animation quality.
The Tensura light novels have recently concluded their 12-year run on November 29, 2025 with Volume 23 of the light novel.
