How We Got the Art for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
We now have an origin story behind how Iwasaki accepted Akutami’s offer to draw Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, alongside an incredible collaborative illustration of past and present cast between the two artists.
On December 20, 2025, we got a high quality version of the collaborative visual between Jujutsu Kaisen author Gege Akutami and Modulo artist Yuji Iwasaki, featuring the two generations together.
We see the main cast of each series (Original features Yuji, Megumi and Nobara led by Gojo while Modulo features Maru, Yuka and Tsurugi led by Usami), with Sukuna on the left and Dabura on the right facing off against each other.
On the background is Mahoraga’s eight-spoked dharma wheel.
In past color illustrations, the official colors of the cast have been confirmed, with Maru being the first-ever character revealed.
Dabura’s colors elude fans as he is tinted with stylized lighting choices but it can be established he has light or blond-colored hair obscured by the bluish tones of his chosen colors.
In this week’s Author’s Comment, it was revealed by Gege Akutami that Yuji Iwasaki joined the project because Akutami offered to let him draw Mahoraga.
“When I offered the illustration/artist job to Iwasaki san, I convinced him by saying, Mahoraga is going to appear!!'”
Many fans have complimented Iwasaki’s version of Mahoraga that debuted in Chapter 15: “The Forbidden Technique Unleashed”, such that they claim this version of Mahoraga is better than the original by Akutami.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 1 will be released on January 5, 2026.
