On November 27, 2025, it has been announced on Oricon that One Piece returns as the best-selling manga of 2025 in Japan, selling over 4.21 million copies.
This is the first time since 2018 that One Piece has held the prestigious title, as in previous years it has been claimed by Demon Slayer (2019-2020), Jujutsu Kaisen (2021-2022, 2024) and Blue Lock (2023).

Last year, Jujutsu Kaisen dominated as the best-selling manga of 2024 with 2.4 million lead (selling 7.61 million copies) ahead of One Piece (selling 5.25 million copies) and now we see it in second place.
This does not include the Modulo sequel, which has yet to release its first volume.
In place of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, which has seen two hiatuses in 2025, Dandadan has soared to third place from its 17th place ranking, especially with its anime adaptation bolstering sales from 3.2 million copies before the anime was released in 2024 to 10 million as of March 2025,
However, during that time, Dandadan has only a total of 1,262,966 sales from January 2025 to March 2025 where we got the last updated count, meaning that Dandadan has over 12 million copies sold as of 2025.
Blue Lock maintains its top 5 position, this time climbing to 4th with 3 million sales, albeit with less overall sales than last year.
From 7th place last year, Kingdom climbs up to 5th place, again with less sales than its 2024 numbers.
Blue Box soars from 17th to 6th place now, being the highest-rated romance series with a 75% increase compared to last year’s sales.
Sakamoto Days also sees a similar increase, its sales almost doubling.
My Hero Academia remains in 9th place but with 2.09 million copies, lower than last year’s 2.91 million.
The most successful newcomer is the new hit romance, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, especially with the release of its anime last July 2025, and having garned 7.5 million sales by September 2025, most of them likely from this year as it soared from its 4.3 million mark in March 2025.

The final two volumes of Jujutsu Kaisen are once again going strong due to their Christmas 2024 release.
One Piece’s three volumes this year dominate the top 10 list.
Even though it is not within the top 10 manga of the year overall, Spy x Family’s latest two volumes have garnered nearly 1.5 million copies.
Kingdom’s top 5 placement comes from the sales of its four volumes (74 to 77), totalling to 2 million, with the rest of its sales from older volumes.
From the top 5 volumes, Kaiju No. 8, which had concluded July of this year, was able to garner close to 800,000 copies while Chainsaw Man, which sees its hit Reze film released late this year, has 3 volumes (19 to 21) selling a total of 779,158, meaning the latest Volume 22 has yet to reach such numbers but time will tell with the movie’s soaring popularity with a $ 174 million at the worldwide box office as of writing.
While many manga have soared in terms of prominence, this does show a clear decline in Japan-only sales for manga.
