How Shanks Got His Scars! One Piece Chapter 1167 Hints!
Skipping to about 13 years after the God Valley Incident, we are about to learn how Shanks received his iconic scars from his fellow survivor, Blackbeard.
In the previous One Piece chapter, we witnessed the death of Rocks D. Xebec after being finished off by Figarland Garling, how Garp became known as Hero of the Marines and the beginnings of Dragon’s Freedom Fighting.
One Piece Chapter 1167 will continue the Elbaph flashback, shedding light into Loki’s other activities.
A Burning Kingdom
This hint shows a city burning
Together with the hint of Fisher Tiger, this confirms the burning of Mary Geoise to save the slaves 15 years ago.
Considering that in the present-day, Mary Geoise is being burned, either by Blackbeard (who might be after the Empty Throne) or Monkey D. Dragon, it would be fitting to go back 15 years ago to Fisher Tiger liberating the slaves.
This would also be one year before Harald’s untimely death.
Question is, what does this incident have to do with Loki and Harald?
Poisoning?
The next hint shows a drink being poisoned, which has some implications.
Some say this is how Roger got his deathly illness in spite of showing no signs during his younger days.
Some might also say Whitebeard could have been poisoned but it was established that Whitebeard’s illness was part of his aging, which is quite normal.
If this was Roger, some might suggest the culprit was Shanks himself, who could have been marked by his father Garling with the Abyss mark as a baby with his twin Shamrock, likely as part of a ritual to tie the Figarland Family to the Holy Knights of God or to his God, Imu, unless the mark was received when Shanks made his one-time visit to the Holy Land of Mary Geoise.
Either way, this poisoning will be a tragic event.
Another possibility is that this could be how Eris, Blackbeard’s mother, dies and this is why Marshall D. Teach was found by Whitebeard as an orphan.
Shanks’ Scars
This hint shows Shanks pointing how the scars on his left eye to Whitebeard.
So we might finally have an answer to when and how Shanks got his scars from Blackbeard, since the scars were not seen when the two were apprentices of their respective Captains.
Shanks did not have the scar when he began his crew 22 years ago or when he found Uta 19 years ago.
Considering that two hints are pointing to Fisher Tiger’s attack on Mary Geoise 15 years ago, it is possible that Shanks also got his scars around this time through an encounter with Blackbeard and it was something Whitebeard was aware of, either because the then-upstart Red Hair Pirates challenged Whitebeard or that Blackbeard fought Shanks himself.
This could have some relation to the death of his father Rocks D. Xebec at the hands of Shanks’ father, Figarland Garling, even though the 2-year old Teach was not present to see that event unfold.
How exactly Teach knew who were responsible for his family’s tragedy is unknown but we could find out here.
