Asa’s Full Backstory Revealed! Chainsaw Man Chapter 217 Review!
Sharing the same circumstances, Denji and Asa look at the loss of their respective parents and how that shaped their morals.
In the previous Chainsaw Man chapter, Yoru reveals her deal with the Governor of California while Asa finds her mother in her repressed memories.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 217 is titled, “Two Good People”.
This chapter has 14 pages.
The chapter begins immediately into a flashback as we see immediately enter into the flashback, where we see a man, Asa’s father, lose his left leg and bleed out on the riverbank.
Asa explains to Denji that the family went out to the riverbank one Sunday and came across a devil but her mother killed the devil with just a rock, meaning it was probably too weak.
However, Asa’s father lost his leg protecting her, which seems to be the start of her constant guilt.
Asa was there, motionless and frightened as her mother tried to stop the bleeding.
The woman tells Asa to run to find the Devil Hunters, which the little girl does and Asa wonders why she had forgotten this.
However, when the police and Public Safety do arrive, it was too late.
Asa lost her father.
But while sleeping that night in their apartment, Asa’s mother asks the girl if the latter noticed the former killing her father.
The woman explains that if he only lost a leg, the insurance payout would only be insiginifcant and it was bad enough that he was unemployed, which made things hard for the family.
However, if the authorities find that the father was killed by a devil, the family would receive a big payout, enough to get Asa to high school.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the man cheated on Asa’s mom.
Even now, Asa wonders if her mother was a bad person or not but her life did improve after losing her father.
Her father was a drunk and got violent.
This sounds like familiar territory.
The day she tried to call for the Devil Hunters in the alleyway, she tripped and fell on purpose.
Asa asks young Denji if he thinks she is a bad person but Denji reveals he also killed his father and made it look like an accident, which caused Asa to laugh.
The chapter ends with Yoru’s decapitated head laughing while it was close to Chainsaw Man’s mouth.
Will she be erased and chomped down or is this just the continuation of the battle?
