One Piece Sudden Break Explained
The One Piece break this week has finally been explained by Weekly Shonen Jump.
On October 2, 2025, Weekly Shonen Jump’s Editorial Department released the following message:
To Our Readers,
Thank you very much for always reading ONE PIECE.
Due to the author’s poor health, ONE PIECE will be on break in this issue.
We sincerely apologize to the readers who were looking forward to it.
Additionally, while the preview page and postcard in this issue list ONE PIECE, due to printing
schedules the corrections could not be made in time.
We deeply apologize once again.
The story will resume in Issue 46 (On sale October 14).
We kindly ask for your continued support of ONE PIECE.

This type of sudden has happened multiple times over the course of the series, with last year having a similarly-written message for Chapter 1132’s delayed release.
However, prior to this, other fans have speculated that Oda likely failed to meet the deadline for the chapter, which is normally prepared 18-20 days before its official release.
Manga that debut should already have over 7 chapters ready.
Chapter 1161, released on September 29, was already set for September 10-12, for example, meaning there was more than a week prior to its printing.
However, Chapter 1162, set supposedly for October 6, would have been for September 17-19 but Oda was not able to make it.
With this message, the One Piece community will have received clarity on the matter.
One Piece Chapter 1162 will be released instead on October 13, 2025.
