Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is FINALLY HERE!
Two protagonists clash! Yuji vs Yuta is the highlight of the vibrant and newly-released Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 trailer!

On August 31, 2025, it was announced during the 5th anime anniversary program that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Culling Game Arc will air on January 2026 and will be a split-cour season.
Season 3 will begin with Chapter 138: “The Zenin Clan” and will likely end on Chapter 221: “Gain and Loss”, which would make Season 3 the most dense in terms of content at 83 chapters, compared to Season 2’s 74 chapters.
If this will be a 24-episode season, Part 1 will likely cover Chapter 138 all the way to Chapter 173: “Tokyo No. 1 Colony, Part 13” with the battle between Megumi Fushiguro and Reggie Star.
Trailer Breakdown
The trailer first shows the origin of the first key visual for the season, which features Yuji Itadori sitting on a staircase from Chapter 138.
The glass-stained window gives off red lighting within the area, with the trailer highlighting Yuji’s sense of guilt over the Shibuya Incident, from blood-stained hands being washed to a giant red hand smashing on some chairs.
There is also a shot of the Zenin household with Naoya walking, which sets up the Perfect Preparation Arc.
After clapping, which seemingly alerts the Cursed Spirits in Shibuya, we see Yuji jump off a building to get away from the Cursed Spirits that Kenjaku sent across Japan in the aftermath of the Shibuya Incident.
Yuta passes by, walking inside a building near the one Yuji left.
We see a cut of Megumi telling Yuji not to give up easily and that, as sorcerers they are not heroes, which is a snippet of his speech to Yuji in Chapter 143: “One More Time” after Yuji was “executed” by Yuta.
Later, we spot the alliance of Jujutsu Sorcerers, with Yuki Tsukumo in the lead, within Tengen’s chambers, the Tomb of the Stars in Chapter 144: “That Place”.
Yuji also examines the wound left by Yuta after being “executed”, with the fight between the two being the highlight of the trailer, with signs that this fight will be thoroughly extended as the fight only lasted two chapters and they mostly stayed in the highway.
Here, it looks like Yuji and Yuta will be fighting inside a sort of traditional Japanese theater, which does not happen in the manga, as well as them leaping off a building, with their clash leaving a residue of red and blue Cursed Energy.
We also see Naoya Zenin, the man accompanying Yuta in the hunt, in action as we see his late father Naobito’s Projection Sorcery in motion against Choso, who has an amazing shot of him activating his Blood
In confronting Yuta, Yuji brings up Sukuna’s plan for Megumi, which sets up the likely stopping point for Season 3.
We see holograms of the Kogane shikigami that will monitor the Culling Game and of Kenjaku himself when Tengen explains the Culling Game in Chapter 145: “The Back”.
This makes the text-heavy segments in the manga more palatable as we will have a visual guide for a chapter that is mostly just talking.
We also see the Back of the Prison Realm, which also hints at Gojo’s freedom being a relevant point for Season 3.
Whether or not the season will conclude in Gojo’s release is yet to be seen as we do not see his face in the trailer at all.
We also spot the white dead trees outside Tengen’s lair and the tunnel leading to it as Yuki brings up the distortion began: 11 years ago with Toji Fushiguro killing the Plasma Star Vessel Riko Amanai.
We then cut to Maki fighting off the Zenin clan while her twin, Mai, tells Maki to wreck it all.
As Yuji fights through various Cursed Spirits, we see Choso’s battle with Naoya again and much like Choso’s battle with Yuji in Episode 37: “Red Scale”, the anime staff play around with colors, with the area turning red before all color is wiped away while Yuji runs across a purple-filled city and the trailer ending on Yuta calling for Rika.

As expected, Goshozono (Gosso) will be returning as series director ever since his incredible performance in Season 2.
His experience with the difficult yet successful Shibuya Incident will prove to be crucial in making Season 3 yet another standout adaptation, potentially even surpassing it with all the matchups happening.
Even with how sparse and limited they are, the cuts with Choso and Yuji’s fight against Yuta and Naoya prove to be a healthy tease of the quality we will expect for this season.
Yoshimasa Terui will once again be the sole composer for Season 3 as he was in Season 2, with Hiroaki Tsutsumi and Alisa Okehazama, the other composers for Season 1, no longer involved.
The same core staff of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will also be returning, given this is the Seshimo line like Chainsaw Man but with some reshuffling.
Uniquely, Yusuke Yajima and Hiromi Niwa replaces Tadashi Hiramatsu & Sayaka Koiso as character designers.
Meanwhile, Yusuke Takada replaces Ryota Aikei, who was assistant director for Season 2.
Teppei Itou remains the director of photography and will continue improving thanks to his experiences in Chainsaw Man and every season of Jujutsu Kaisen.
