Popular Manwha Gets CANCELLED Over Confirmed Plagiarism
The popular biking manwha comes to an end due to plagiarism allegations.
On July 12, 2025, it was announced that the South Korean manwha “Wind Breaker” by Yongseok Jo has been cancelled after tracing plagiarism allegations were confirmed.
This is not to be confused with the Japanese gangster manga also called “Wind Breaker”.
The tracing allegations have also been confirmed by the author himself as he traced on some character models from Sui Ishida’s hit manga, Tokyo Ghoul, specifically the anime designs, for his work.
In a farewell message to the Wind Breaker fan community, Yongseok Jo has stated:
“For a long time, living a life constantly chasing deadlines week after week, that small negligence led me to fail to uphold the standards I should have maintained as a creator.”
“This was clearly my mistake… I am truly sorry, and my heart aches for letting down my readers”
Having reached 26 volumes and 544 chapters, the webtoon was published by Naver Webtoon and has been viewed over 600 million times since its release in December 8, 2013.
Wind Breaker is the story of the student body president, Jay, who is coerced into joining the school’s biking team, the Hummingbird Crew.
