Fans Worry Over the New Kaguya-Sama: Love is War Special

After 3 years, we get a continuation of this hit romance anime but fans are worried that A-1 Pictures might be skipping crucial content.

On June 22, 2025, it was announced that production for a special of Kaguya-sama: Love is War has begun, titled, “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War – The Stairway to Adulthood”

With this announcement came a key visual showing the main characters (Kaguya Shinomiya, Miyuki Shirogane, Yu Ishigami, Chika Fujiwara, Miko Ino,  and Ai Hayasaka) and a passenger airplane taking off.

There is no date of release or other information but it is likely that A-1 Pictures is still producing the series.

This special will continue from the “First Kiss that Never Ends” film but fans worry about the anime skipping crucial chapters, especially as the poster shows Ai Hayasaka with a different hairdo.

Hayasaka’s hair changed starting from the Class Trip arc (Chapters 179 to 187) as she had to cut her ponytail while trying to rescue Kaguya.

The most likely spot this special will adapt is either the Home Visit Arc (Chapters 207-209) or The ABCs of Women and Men Arc (Chapters 210-215), which are rather both rather, so there is a possibility both will be included in the special in some way.

There are over 120 chapters left for the anime to adapt and considering the length of time between the movie and now, fans seem rightfully worried if there will be another season at all.

However, there have already been two special anime projects, one being a PV adapting Chapter 110 titled, “Yu Ishigami Wants to Talk” that was released on October 21, 2021, and the other, the first Kaguya-sama OVA released on May 19, 2021 that adapted the first two Darkness volumes and Chapter 96: “Kaguya Wants to Feed Him”.

This could serve as a similar preview and should this special anime be released in 2026, it is likely that another Kaguya-Sama season will come by 2027, adapting some of the missing content in an altered chronological order.
