On May 16, 2025, it was announced that Blue Lock: Episode Nagi will be ending with the release of Volume 8 on August 12, 2025.

The spinoff focuses on Seishiro Nagi’s journey prior to entering the Blue Lock facility, joined by his friend Reo Mikage.

August 12th also happens to be Reo’s birthday.

Some fans expressed disappointment at not being able to witness matches from Nagi and/or Reo’s perspectives, as most of Blue Lock has been centered on Yoichi Isagi’s journey.

In particular, many fans have wanted to see a longer version of some matches when Nagi and Reo were part of Team Manshine City.

In the current timeline of the main Blue Lock manga, Nagi has returned to his ordinary life, lamenting his inability to rejoin Blue Lock.

Blue Lock: Episode Nagi has been serialized in Kodansha’s monthly Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on June 9, 2022, meaning that the series has been going on for 3 years.

An anime movie was released on April 19, 2024, directed by Shunsuke Ishikawa and produced by Studio 8bit, the same studio as the main anime.

As of writing, there have been 7 volumes and 34 chapters, meaning that there will be 2 more chapters to complete the series, set for release on June and July, for a possible total of 36 chapters.
